I need to start listening to music while putting on my makeup (whenever that is).
There’s something about music that boost up your confidence and makes you feel sexy! Especially if you’re having a girls’ night out, it’s essential to play some tunes to get you in the mood to whip out your favourite eyeshadow.
So I created this playlist of my favourite songs about makeup. Some of the songs are I actually listen to while putting on makeup while others are songs about makeup that I really like.
So without further ado….
1. Jazmine Sullivan – Mascara
This is one of my favourite songs from her album Reality Show. In a perfect world, if I had time to wear makeup in my everyday life, I would also never leave the house without mascara on.
2. Almost anything about Beyonce
I’m not a big Beyonce fan, but it’s undeniable that she makes great music, especially for makeup sessions. Everyone should listen to a little Beyonce while putting on makeup, especially if you’re going for a night out on the town. Here are two of my favourites:
Get Me Bodied
3. Kendrick Lamar – No Makeup
This one of the few hip hop songs that not only talks about makeup, but also tells it from the male perspective. Kendrick Lamar beautifully illustrates a woman who puts on makeup to hide the signs of domestic violence. It’s poetic and powerful.
4. Colbie Caillat – Try
This song and the accompanying video reminds me of a Dove commercial. Like Kendrick Lamar, Colbie Caillat chooses to let young women know that it’s okay not to wear makeup or that they don’t have to try so hard to be who they are. I like it because it reminds me that self-confidence is still the only makeup product everyone should have.
5. Lil Mama – Lip Gloss
Well, I couldn’t end this post on a low note! I remember when this song exploded in 2007 and it was everywhere. Lip gloss was one of the only makeup products I wore while in high school so I can totally relate! My lip gloss is popping!
